Having originally trained as a sculptor, I moved into theatre design in 1995; since then I have worked in a wide range of performance related areas, from devised theatre to opera, dance and installation work.
For me, creating a design for a show is not merely about producing something that is visually exciting - it is as much about creating a world that works for the performer as well as for the audience, and giving them a space that has potential, rather than just a fixed or an imposed vision.
